Next installment on education technical standards….seems like they are going nowhere. Is IMS claiming ownership of learning design standards? Adoption of SCORM is proving to be of uncertain benefit and CORDRA where are the Dan Rehaks? So in terms of Web 2 it seems to me the only critical standards are in relation to access management and APIs. Checked the CETIS website recently and the latest ‘News’ item is for April 2006. So whose doing what out there? Seems like patents are being imposed and everyones back to doing their own thing? Maybe something exciting will come out of the E-framework, initiative?

Interesting post – thanks Tim. I think that the sheer pace of Web 2.0 is problematic for standards. Many standards follow rather than lead however what do you do when the rate of change becomes overwhelming?
Thanks,
Jerry.
