Big Shifts

Finally got back to finishing Will Richardsons Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts & other powerful web tools. His ten shifts we need to make in teaching:

  1. Open content
  2. Many teachers/ 24/7 access
  3. The social collaborative construction of knowledge
  4. Teaching is conversation not lecture
  5. Know ‘where’ learning
  6. Readers are no longer just readers
  7. Web as notebook
  8. Writing is no longer limited to text
  9. Mastery is the product not the test
  10. Contribution not completion is the ultimate goal

This has implications for  the way we think of content, curriculum and the way we organise around formal/informal based learning.
