Softly softly on Web 2

Organisations are at last coming to grapple with Web 2. Education.au and MCEETYA in Australia are both pondering over the pedagogical, organisational and policy issues associated with social technologies. JISCs Podcast throws up some good considerations, particularly the aspect of “needing to meet student expectations, without overstepping the boundaries.” In other words being mindful of encroaching on students spaces. Institutions will need to consider the possible tensions arising between formal education domains and students own social spaces.Another comment I found interesting was the tribal nature of Web 2. -maybe the system based applications currently deployed in education miss the mark in trying to cater for mass appeal when they should be targeting niche communities.
