Interactive White Board-primary lessons

Interesting to see the changes in my daughters primary school with the introduction of IWBs in every classroom.  Her teacher seems to have undergone (as the principal) described it – a rebirth in terms of teaching. Alice comes home and babbles on about the new things which they tried on the boards. Yep- ‘they’- as in real collaborative learning. This was a school which 12 months ago while having computers in every room/computer labs and good network access- was going no where with elearning. But through the year I noticed a growing tide of interest and engagement with all things elearning, as they gradually came to embrace the fact they were going to be ‘living’ with their own boards. Convincing the school to make this investment wasn’t easy but with P&C support everyone gradually got onboard. The transformation was evident even before the first board was switched on. So lets see if the wow factor can be maintained and the IWBS are used as more than $blackboards (as per the UK experience). Now for my eldest son’s secondary school- a very different kettle of croissant…
